Default content

Photosynthesister‎, the text currently appearing on the Main Page is placed there by default. You are welcome to add to, edit, or remove the content as you please. :) -Jason (talk) 09:57, 17 February 2015 (PST)

Also, one more quick reminder: This wiki includes the Instant Commons extension, which means you can use any images hosted at Wikimedia Commons without having to upload them locally. Happy editing! -Jason (talk) 09:16, 18 February 2015 (PST)

Twitter

I noticed there is a Twitter handle for Consensual Economics, which is fantastic! I hope you don't mind that I added your handle to Wiki.Wiki's Twitter page as well as the entry for your wiki. You might also consider adding the Twitter link to this wiki's main page, in case others are interested in following. -Jason (talk) 09:42, 19 February 2015 (PST)

That's great! I made a facebook page too. I do want to add this to the main page too. Still working on understanding wikitext.
No problem (or rush)! Let me know if you have any questions. I will try to find your Facebook page and add that to Wiki.Wiki as well. Keep up the great work! -Jason (talk) 10:34, 19 February 2015 (PST)

Main Page

Is there a way that I can create a "Main Page" using the standard format like the front page of a wiki like this page: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki. -Photosynythesister

You can often view code at existing wiki pages to copy and edit the code/text. Do you mean using the tables and whatnot? You might see if a layout like this works for you... or even viewing how pages are created at other wikis that you like. -Jason (talk) 13:16, 19 February 2015 (PST)
OMG, All I have to do is "View Source on that page, copy the code, drop it in my wiki and adapt it from there?
Often, yes! This is what is so great about open source and the simplicity of wikis. Though, sometimes others wikis may be using templates which have not yet been defined locally, so those may need to be created as well. For example, I will go ahead and create Template:Done by copying content from this page. -Jason (talk) 13:36, 19 February 2015 (PST)
And don't forget, you can always practice in the SandBox if you prefer. -Jason (talk) 14:00, 19 February 2015 (PST)

Formatting

The alignment looks weird along the left side of the page. Do you know what is happening? It is creeping...--Photosynthesister (talk) 12:34, 20 February 2015 (PST)

It has to do with the padding setting in the table command. The padding should disappear if you remove the command. -Jason (talk) 12:35, 20 February 2015 (PST)
Fantastic. Thanks.--Photosynthesister (talk) 12:36, 20 February 2015 (PST)
Oops, either the padding or the border setting. Either way, it is the table line that needs some adjusting, as far as I can tell. -Jason (talk) 12:39, 20 February 2015 (PST)
Actually, I notice you are not "closing" your tables, just creating more on top of one another. Let me try something... -Jason (talk) 12:41, 20 February 2015 (PST)

Text formatting aside, do you like the layout with 2 columns? If so, maybe the Project Founder and Participants sections could exist side-by-side as well. Otherwise, we can just revert and address the formatting another way... -Jason (talk) 12:48, 20 February 2015 (PST)

Yes, I do. Thanks so much!. Also, 1. I have been fussing with it a little this morning because I wanted reorder the categories in the tables. Regarding the last two rows of columns. I wanted the first rom to be Participating Artist, then Connect. The second row I want is Give What You Can and the Project Founder. I tried moving them around but mangled them. Can you point me to how I can create tables?. 2. I wanted to make a portal. That's crazytown coding (for me). Any recommendations? I want to have a place where people can quickly click to. 3. Is there anyway to have a permanent footer at the bottom of each page in the wiki automatically? And 4. Is there a way to automatically make the text bigger to read. I like the small text but it may be hard for some people. I made the text bigger on the main page which I like but I had to take an extra step of coding for every text line.Thanks!!--Photosynthesister (talk) 02:05, 21 February 2015 (PST)
I rearranged the sections for you. Also, see below... -Jason (talk) 07:59, 21 February 2015 (PST)

Tables

To understand how tables are either 100% width or 50% width, see the following code difference:

Here is how you create a 50% width table:

Table start

<table> <tr valign="top"> <td width=50% bgcolor="whitesmoke">

Table break

</td> <td width=50% bgcolor="white smoke">

Table close

</td></tr></table>

Here is how you create a 100% width table:

Table start

<table> <tr valign="top"> <td width=100% bgcolor="white smoke">

Table close

</td></tr></table>

I hope this helps! -Jason (talk) 07:51, 21 February 2015 (PST)

Portal

Now, when you say you want to create a Portal, what do you mean exactly? Can you provide a link so I can see an example of what you mean? And yes, once a template is created for your footer you can use it on as many pages as you wish. For example, Template:Done has been created on this wiki, so we can use it by placing "{{ }}" around the name of the template... like so: Yes check.svg Done. -Jason (talk) 07:54, 21 February 2015 (PST)

Font size

Regarding font size, I removed all appearances of the big and /big commands throughout and just included one at the top and one at the bottom. Makes the code much cleaner! :) -Jason (talk) 07:58, 21 February 2015 (PST)
